29th Annual Cowboy Symposium October 12, 13, 14, 2018

Each year, during the second full weekend in October, Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico plays host to the nation's finest cowboy festival with old west storytellers, noted historians, poets, musicians, chuckwagon cook-offs, western artists and craftsmen, cowboy competitions, horse demonstrations, western swing dancing, kids rodeo and educational activities. In 1996, the symposium was selected as the Best Cowboy Cultural Event by the American Cowboy Culture Association or ACCA. In addition, the LCCS has been named one of North America's top 100 events by the American Bus Association.

The performers, chuck wagon cooks and western craftsmen gathered here represent the best in their fields. They are as diverse in nature as they are in talent, but they all have a common love of the West and the life that it offers.

Take some time to visit with these folks. Their stories are rich with history and their skills are seasoned with time. We hope you enjoy this years Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium and leave with a richer understanding of the “Cowboy Way of Life.”

Each year we look for the best group of performers, those like Don Edwards, to entertain our crowds all weekend long.

With entertainment options ranging from a Kids' Rodeo to a Reiner competition, the family can have fun all day long.

To round off your experience, we invite over 100 vendors to showcase their unique products for you to buy.

One of the highlights of the Symposium is the Albertson's Market LCCS World Championship Chuckwagon Competition (featured on the Food Network's All American Festivals and Cowboy Challenge).

One of our tastiest events is the popular Albertson's Market LCCS Chuckwagon Cook-off Competition, in which participants cook Old West–style food in full regalia.
